The Heart Space is where our potential for unconditional love, compassion, kindness and gratitude lies. The awakened, or empowered, Heart allows us to meet life more fully as it arises moment to moment freeing us from being too caught up in the transient story lines and anxieties of the mind even in the most challenging of times.
Tutor(s): Swami SatyaDaya and Swami Krishnapremananda
As the heart lets go and softens, we naturally feel a greater connection with the flow of Life, and a greater trust in the wisdom of life. Yet the heart can easily be vulnerable or guarded due to unresolved hurts and wounds that each of us encounter in life. The defenses which we put in place to shield us from further hurt, whilst no doubt essential at some time, eventual limit our ability to truly engage with life moment to moment. They impact our ability to relate to both ourselves and others in the ways that, deep down, we would most dearly wish to.
This weekend online course will share a wiser and compassionate understanding of the heart space. We will explore simple and accessible meditations on the heart space using the breath, archetypal symbols, metta/ loving kindness, and tonglen/ giving and receiving. The weekend will also include yoga nidra, pranayama and mudra. Furthermore, we will explore the wounded heart, the nature of our emotional landscape and how we can let go into a greater acceptance and ease with ourselves as we are.
The practices you learn can then be continued at home thereafter. The retreat will include 8 x 1-hour sessions of live online teaching, feedback and sharing via zoom over Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31. The zoom sessions will start at 10am, 11.45am, 3.30pm and 5.15pm both days. There will also be a follow up conference call two weeks after the retreat to explore your initial experience of working with the practices. In addition, there will be handouts to support the sessions, and ongoing email support with your practice.
