The focus of this retreat will be on Mouna, silence. We will be using yoga, meditation, chanting and other practices to access the underlying stillness that lies hidden within ourselves, allowing us to come to rest in a place of peace and tranquillity.
Tutor(s): Maha Sattwa
When we let go of the busyness of the world and our own minds, we find ourselves resting in this magical place of tranquillity and peace where we feel naturally connected and in tune with life and all of existence around us.
Stillness is something that is ever present and always accessible to us. It is like the container that holds all of existence in its embrace. Every time we get lost in the noise of our minds and the events of our lives we lose touch with this underlying stillness. With the practice of meditation and through cultivating a sense of awareness in daily life we can start to see the mental content of our minds. Once we are aware of our thoughts, we can let go of our involvement with them and step into the silence that holds not only our thoughts but all of existence. This underlying stillness is a place of harmony and clarity from where we can enjoy a wider perspective on life which gives us access to the otherwise untapped source of innate wisdom, insight and inspiration that lies hidden within ourselves.
This silence within is a place of not only peace and tranquillity but also of deep nourishment and vitality where we can replenish our energies. It is a place we can return to at any time, tapping into its calm energies to bring peace, harmony and clarity to our lives even among the busyness of it all.
Four days of this retreat will be spent in Mouna, silence. Previous experience of the practice of mouna is recommended.
