Different Paths of Yoga

Intellect without feeling, knowledge without love, reason without compassion, can easily lead to rigidity, whilst feeling without reason, love without knowledge (blind love), compassion without understanding, can lead to confusion and ignorance. The synthesis of both, the balance of heart and head, feeling and intellect, opens up the portal to realization of our spiritual nature, to Conscious Presence.

Yoga is designed to balance integrate the different aspects of our personality from the physical, through the emotional to the mental and up to the psychic. Moreover, Yoga means ‘to yoke’ or ‘to connect’. Therefore, it is a system of philosophy and practice which is designed to help us to ‘reconnect’ with the source of our being.

This online day seminar is intended to give us the opportunity of practising and sharing together. We will integrate some of the following main paths of yoga:

Dhyana Yoga: The Yoga of Meditation – the process of introspection, to unveil the different levels and aspects of the mind and, eventually, to even see beyond it.
Mantra Yoga: The Yoga of Sound Vibration – where sound, as music, chanting or singing, is used as a means of transforming our energy, perception and understanding. It is a process of meditation.
Hatha Yoga: The Yoga of Balance (Physical Yoga) – harmonising the body and energies therein to bring balance and thereby open us up to the meditative state.
Gyana Yoga: The Yoga of Enquiry and Insight – in which one reflects and questions fundamental aspects of one’s own being and of existence in general.
Bhakti Yoga: The Yoga of the Heart – the path of dedicating and focusing our emotions, feelings and, indeed, our very life to fulfilling the destiny of the One.

We will share asana, meditation, yoga Nidra and satsang to aid our exploration of these key yoga paths via the following zoom sessions:

9.30-10.15am, 10.35-11.30, 11.50-12.45, 14.15-15.10, 15.30-16.10 and 16.30-17.30.

The emphasis of the day will be on personal experience rather than theory and dogma.
