Celebrating the Celtic Festivals with Yoga - the Winter Solstice

The Celtic festivals mark the turning of the seasons within the year. These four online one day workshops offer a space to connect with the festivals of Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice.

Tutor(s): Reva

At time of the Winter Solstice, we celebrate the shortest day and longest night. During this time our awareness is drawn inwards, giving space for deep rest and dreaming, contemplation and insights. The year before is dying and we begin to prepare for re-emergence, bringing our resolutions and visions outside of ourselves and into the light. The purpose of this day will be deep nourishment, honouring the need for rest and dreaming but also support in defining our intentions for the coming year.

As we celebrate these traditional festivals we are following in the footsteps of our ancestors and connecting deeply with a thread that helps us align and come into balance with nature. Through yoga and sharing we can harmonize with the natural seasonal patterns and recognize our place within the whole of creation.

Through the practices of asana, meditation, and yoga nidra the workshops will support participants in deepening their connection to each particular phase of the year; its qualities, elements and gifts. There will also be an opportunity to reflect and share on how the festival connects with your own life and how ritual can offer a gateway to letting go of what no longer serves you allowing you to welcome more of the qualities that you need at these times.

The courses will be nourishing and support you in refining your personal intention at these times and bringing insight and understanding. Reva will provide a held space weaving together her experience as yoga teacher, psychotherapist, and shamanic practitioner.
