Meditation - Going Deeper

A 3-day retreat exploring a variety of meditation practices, open to those wishing to deepen their experience and understanding of who we really are.

Tutor(s): with Swami Satyadaya, assisted by Swami Krishnaprem and Tulsi

The practice of meditation is fundamental to the process of our awakening to the realisation of the more fundamental level of our existence. Rather than an exercise in trying to fight and control the mind, meditation is the process of allowing the mind and emotions to calm so that we become receptive to the experience of the subtler levels of our being.

When the mind dissolves, even for a short duration, there is a quantum leap in our identification so that we realise what we are on a fundamental level. This dissolving, or ceasing of the fluctuations, of the mind is the state of meditation – inner communion. Meditation allows us to cease identifying, even if only momentarily, with mental chatter, ‘stories’ and imaginations of the mind and to rest as that which IS.

Meditation can completely change our attitude to life and our notions of who and what we think we are. During these periods of meditation we open ourselves to the wellspring of stillness and joy that underlies all the noise and activity of the day-to-day mind. These moments of clarity carry over into our daily life allowing us to be less stressed, more creative, and able to carry out our role in life effortlessly.

During this retreat we will explore a variety of meditation practices. Some that encourage a friendliness to the activity of the mind as it is moment to moment, others that cultivate the experience of spaciousness and some that challenge us to question the very assumptions about who and what we think we are.

We will use asanas, pranayama, mudra, bandha, breath awareness, mantra and symbolism as means of meditation to reveal what we already are. The purpose of this course is to encourage you to go deeper in your practice and experience.
